Growing up in Allentown, Pa., Ardath Rodale liked visiting elderly neighbors.
"They treated me with the same respect as an adult,” she says. “They lifted my spirits becasue they seemed to enjoy my company.”
She adds that she could tell that just her presence also helped lift their spirits and made them forget their ailments for a while. She liked making that difference in people's lives.
And Rodale, who turns 75 this month, still does. As Chair of Rodale Inc., she writes a monthly column in Prevention (www.prevention.com).
