Peace and quiet

"Peace means peace and quiet. ... It is peaceful on my back porch. I don't hear any guns and any bombs," wrote Marina Sulzen, 12.


Marina's essay is just one of the insights into peace that The Lutheran received among 134 entries in its 2003 "Youngchurch" contest. Youth were asked to draw or write an essay that reflects their views of peace. They told us that peace is laughter, church, being nice, friends, no war, listening to others and more. All felt war was wrong, but some thought it was sometimes necessary.
