When Roger Noreen put up $1.4 million for his church to build a youth activities center, some at St. Stephen Lutheran, St. Paul, Minn., may have been surprised.
In legal and business circles Noreen was well-known as a retired ranking executive of West Publishing Co. (a legal-publishing house), respected lawyer, law-book author and four-term Minnesota state representative. An endowed professorship at the University of Minnesota Law School bears his name.
But at church he was just a friendly, active member.
