Health care and its delivery have been front and center in the United States in recent years. It's also important in Madagascar — an island nation the size of Texas and home to 15 million people. The Lutheran church there has a long tradition of health ministry. Today the Malagasy Lutheran Church supports 25 hospitals or dispensaries and serves nearly 500,000 patients a year throughout the island.
