I attended the 1997 Definitely-Abled Youth Leadership Event in New Orleans when I was 15. I didn't expect to have a good time because I didn't know anybody. I thought we would sit around and talk about our disabilities and feel sorry for ourselves.
I was wrong. DAYLE concentrated on the role disabled youth can play in our church communities. Because of friends I made and experiences I had at DAYLE, I looked forward to the next event.
This year's DAYLE was held June 25-28 at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, a half hour from St. Louis where the G2K gathering would be held later that week.
