God's quizzical ways

Millionaire contestant felt God's presence at his crucial moment

Moments of connection with God come unexpectedly. Mike Menz found that out as a contestant on ABC's Who Wants to Be A Millionaire.

"What's funny is the most spiritual moment of my life was on a game show," says Menz, an orthopedic surgeon and member of Reformation Lutheran Church, Greeneville, Tenn.

To win, contestants must correctly answer questions that become harder as the prize money increases. Menz did fine until he got to the big-money questions. He wasn't sure of the answers to three of his four final questions. Rather than panic, he found himself letting go. "I just had this feeling that I was in God's hands and that it would be OK to take a chance," he recalls.
