Apocalyptic thriller tops best-seller list

On June 11, The Indwelling: The Beast Takes Possession became the first evangelical novel to reach No. 1 on The New York Times best-seller list.

With a first print run of 2 million, The Indewelling reached No. 1 on the Amazon.com best-seller list, based on advance orders.

The novel is the seventh in the Left Behind series (named after its first book) by retired evangelical pastor Tim F. LaHaye and writer Jerry B. Jenkins. The series is a tale of the experiences of pilot Rayford Steele during the Rapture, the seven-year period of tribulation and the rule of the Antichrist.

An independent production company plans to release a movie based on Left Behind in February 2001.
