No signing date

Lutheran World Federation will decide in November when to sign the Doctrine of Justification.

No date or place has been set for the signing of the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification by the Lutheran World Federation and the Roman Catholic Church.

ELCA Presiding Bishop H. George Anderson told The Lutheran that a November meeting of the LWF executive committee would seek clarification of the Vatican response. A decision would then be made about signing.

An LWF vice president, Anderson said in June, "We have an agreement." Prasanna Kumari, an LWF vice president from India, told a church festival in Germany that the LWF ought not sign it.
