The Carmelite sisters' Web site — www.praythenews.com &151; has received tens of thousands of hits. They help people pray as they seek to attract those who may be interested in joining their contemplative religious order.
Click on "the news," and you get a clip from The New York Times, National Public Radio or other news services. Click on a sister's name and you get her take on the news. "People are not objects to be used," opines Sister Betty about a news clip on how Afghanistan's Northern Alliance is being used. "People are ... meant for relationship."
Other links offer books and information on what the sisters are reading. A popular link is "light a candle," where people can offer a prayer and light a virtual candle.
