Pray for farm families' safety

While fall is the most dangerous time of the year for farmers, summer is the most dangerous for their children, says Karl Goodfellow, a Methodist pastor from Guttenberg, Iowa.

That's one reason he started Safety Net Prayer Ministries, an ecumenical group that encourages prayer for farmers and their families.

The group offers free devotional booklets and, when available, lists of Iowa farmers or children who have asked for prayer. Since the ministry began seven years ago, Goodfellow says there has been a "significant drop in farm fatalities, as much as 40 percent the first year."

To request a devotional booklet (summer or fall version) and a list of names, write to: Safety Net Prayer, P.O. Box 2, Guttenberg, IA 52052; office@snprayer.org.
