Deaconesses keep on giving

At Imatong House, a home for eight Sudanese teenagers, Mayuen Angara (left) and Philip Dar (right) help Jim Westlake unload donations, taking a moment to look at a Bible. When the ELCA Deaconess Community moved from their home in Gladwyne, Pa., their household items were given to Lutheran Social Services-New England programs. Imatong (peace in Sudan's Dinka language) House is the former parsonage of St. Paul Lutheran, Arlington, Mass., and its ministry is supported by both the congregation and LSSNE. The community also gave donations to the Good News Garage, Antrim Girls Shelter, Lutheran Home of Worcester, Greentree residences for teenagers at risk, and programs for disabled adults and refugees.
