'Idiots' and 'Dummies' find religion

Most Americans don't know much about other faiths, says a survey by Religion and Ethics Newsweekly and U.S. News and World Report.

The 2002 survey found that only 51 percent of Americans know someone who is Jewish, 28 percent know a Muslim, and only 17 percent know a Hindu or Buddhist.

Help is on the way, thanks to the publishers of the "For Dummies" series and "The Complete Idiot's Guides."

New releases from Wiley Publishers include Judaism For Dummies, The Bible For Dummies and Religion For Dummies, with Buddhism For Dummies, Islam For Dummies and Catholicism For Dummies due this spring.

Alpha Books released five religion titles late last year: The Pocket Idiot's Guide to Buddhism, The Pocket Idiot's Guide to Christianity, The Pocket Idiot's Guide to Hinduism, The Pocket Idiot's Guide to Judaism and The Pocket Idiot's Guide to Islam.
