Reconciling in Christ is a program of Lutherans Concerned/North America that encourages churches to invite and welcome gays and lesbians into parish life. Although Reconciling in Christ is not an ELCA ministry, 149 ELCA congregations and 12 synods have voted to become part of its ministry.
Believers often understand these words of Jesus (John 10:16) as a reference to the Gentiles, whom Christ would gather into his "one flock." But to another group of outsiders — gay and lesbian Christians — Jesus could have been talking about them.
