Christians convened yet another conference on forgiving the debts of poor nations (Jubilee 2000 supporters gathered in Washington, D.C., April 9). Still, serious questions remain that — to my knowledge — haven't been discussed publicly.
Were these nations capable of self-sustenance when they became "free"? Did they elect governments conducive to socioeconomic growth? I don't think so.
