In January 1994, Dan Brunner, who was St. Matthew's pastor, identified transportation as a basic need for many people living in the Portland suburb. From this the Cars Ministry was born. A sizable cash donation started the ministry, and it's been going strong ever since. In the five years they've been in operation, 60 cars have been donated to the cause. Of the cars received, 30 were sold to raise funds and more than 30 were given away.
