It looks like a glitzy magazine for teenage girls. But if you look closer at the glossy cover of Revolve — with its three smiling young women and promising fluorescent headlines — you will find this: "The Compete New Testament."
Thomas Nelson Inc. (www.thomasnelson.com) packaged this colorful magazine edition of the New Century Version of the New Testament ($14.95) to snare a media-savvy group, which does not read the Bible very much.
Along with the New Testament, Revolve offers its readers quizzes, top-10 lists, Q & As on teens' questions, advice boxes, Bible basics, bios of women in the Bible, tips for inner beauty, activities and prayer suggestions for throughout the year.
Some critics pan Revolve as prudish, simplistic and stifling to girls' growing individuality, but numerous teen reviewers give it high marks.
A version for teenage boys is scheduled for 2004.
