Delta hits high notes

If airline passengers feel closer to God as they fly above the clouds, in-flight music by contemporary Christian artists may enhance that sensation.

"Christian music is making an incredible impact in the marketplace," says Frank Breeden, president of the Gospel Music Association, which co-sponsored a two-hour audio program carried aboard Delta Airlines for two months this spring. The program featured nominees from this year's Dove Awards, which honored the top Christian-music artists in April ceremonies.

"The feedback has been very positive from our customers," says John Kennedy, a Delta Airlines spokesperson. He said running the program was not a market test, but "part of our programming with many other channels of audio."
