Council adopts redesign process

Soft mission support forces $2.8 million reduction in 2004 spending plan

The ELCA Church Council, meeting in Charlotte, N.C., Nov. 13-16, adopted a three-phase process with a Nov. 2004 deadline for redesigning, refocusing and likely reducing the scope of the churchwide organization (www.elca.org/planning).

The council met in Charlotte to participate in the North Carolina Synod's 200th anniversary celebration in Winston-Salem
