James Childs answers questions about the work of the task force

The vote of the 2001 Churchwide Assembly called for the ELCA to study homosexuality with reference to the blessing of same-sex unions and to the ordination of people in committed same-sex unions--with recommendations to be presented in 2005. The Lutheran has reported in various ways the work of the task force appointed to undertake that study.

In this issue we invite you to sit in on a conversation with James Childs, director for studies on sexuality, who offers an update on the study as it moves to congregations. Some of the concerns Childs addresses are from readers who responded to our request in the December issue to send in their questions.
