Senegalese appreciate ELCA missionaries

Our ministry: Sarah focuses on caring for our children, Elijah, 6, and Simon, 3. She also serves on the steering committee for a new preschool that grew out of a Senegalese house church.

I (Peter) do administration work at the Cultural Center Galle Nanondiral, "the House of Mutual Understanding." Some work is routine — staff meetings, planning programs, signing contracts and building relationships with staff, participants and community members. But I've also sat in on literacy classes that reach more than 1,000 women, attended an anti-AIDS rally with our adolescent health program team, and watched two of our seven basketball teams become national champions.
