In my work in the church, I've found that the process of working through an issue often is as important as the outcome. The willingness to engage in such a process means we move over to create space for God to work in unexpected ways.
We in the ELCA have said that we're engaging in a process in which we'll spend time together in prayer, Scripture reading and discussions with one another. The sole purpose of this process is to discern how God is speaking to the church to deepen its understanding of God's will regarding human sexuality.
