On its first full day of business, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Triennial Convention, meeting in St. Louis July 11-17, re-elected President Alvin Barry to his third three-year term with 57 percent of the votes cast.LCMS Mission Director Glenn O'Schoney garnered 30 percent of the votes.
The convention voted to declare altar-and-pulpit fellowship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria in Russia. ELCIR Bishop Aarre Kuukauppi told delegates the action was "the culmination of our dream." (See next month's issue for full coverage.)
