Soulful event unites people of African ancestry

Nearly 250 participants from across the United States and from several African nations gathered recently in Alabama to explore their common heritage — and current differences — as black people and, particularly, as black Christians.

"The Blood that Unites the Diaspora: A Consultation of Black Peoples" was held June 4-7 at Tuskegee University under the leadership of the ELCA Commission for Multicultural Ministries, with co-sponsorship from other ELCA units, the university and local ecumenical groups.
