Virgin Islands still in need of relief

Lutheran Disaster Response is in its second year of providing relief in the Virgin Islands from Hurricane Marilyn.

Repairs have been completed on 40 percent of the damaged homes in St. Thomas. Nazareth Lutheran Church, St. John, needs a new roof as well as other repairs. Frederick Lutheran Church, St. Thomas, discovered new damage not covered by insurance. Reformation Lutheran Church, St. Thomas, whose sanctuary was destroyed, hopes to break ground on a new sanctuary next winter. Reformation is still $50,000 short for rebuilding funds.

To help, send checks to: ELCA Domestic Disaster Response (marked "Reformation Church Rebuilding"), Box 71764, Chicago, IL 60694-1764. Skilled volunteers (18 and over) are needed for rebuilding. Contact Kris Shafer at (800) 638-3522 Ext. 2968.
