How much is enough?

Try giving yourself not just money to the poor

How far should we go in helping the poor? We give money to help, but they spend it foolishly. Through the years we didn't have much, but we saved what we could. It's disgusting when they expect us to dish it out even though we aren't rich.

How far? As far as the cross. Foolish? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world (1 Corinthians 1:20)? We save, but we all need God to save us, in spite of or even from our savings. Disgusting? While we were yet disgusting in God's sight, God lavishly poured out mercy and abundant riches.

Still, yours is an honest question. You give in spite of your feelings, but you are hurting in your begrudging. Among gifts listed in Romans 12:6-8 is a generous heart. Seek this freeing gift from God.
