1. Is it faithful to the character of the Triune God, to God's grace, mystery, sovereignty, salvation, etc.? We shouldn't, for example, sing violent songs about God.
2. Does it nurture Christ-like character or merely express human emotions and wishes?
3. Does it unite us in a community centered in Christ and his mission? Do they create an awareness of the church as one, holy, catholic, apostolic, across time and space?
