Gambling wins and losses

An ELCA study will help us look at all sides of the issue

Most of the town's businesses are gone--only a grocery and one small hardware store remain. It wasn't a natural disaster that hit Deadwood, S.D., but an industry.

"Main Street is one big strip of casinos," says Lloyd Miller, pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in nearby Lead, S.D. "Gaming interests bought out the car dealerships and other businesses."
