• Recycle all your home's waste newspaper, cardboard, glass and metal.
• Buy appliance models such as high-efficiency refrigerators.
• Plant trees around your home.

Rising seas swallow low-lying island nations and drown vast tracts of coast. Far inland, scant rainfall and searing sun broil once-lush farmland. The disruption in the food supply condemns millions to starvation. Climate changes disturb wildlife habitat and rush countless species to extinction. Thousands of people die from tropical diseases as mosquito breeding grounds spread into areas once temperate.
Harsh? Definitely. Impossible? No, say scientists who warn of global warming.
