I'm learning to see the good in this flood," said one mother of six children. "My faith has been rebuilt along with my house, and the presence and support of fellow Lutherans has given me strength to move forward with my life." After six months, her family can now return to its home--in large part because of Lutheran volunteers.
The continuing need for volunteers in the Upper Midwest now and throughout the winter is urgent. That message was heard repeatedly during a two-day September gathering of Lutherans who are active in disaster response efforts in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota.
