Bishops suggest ways to revive Episcopal proposal

The ELCA Conference of Bishops last month recommended that the Church Council invite the Episcopal Church "to work together toward a proposal for full communion between our churches" that can be discussed at next year's synod assemblies.

The bishops envision a document developed by a small writing group and reviewed by a larger panel. The group might have three people from each church. Presiding Bishop H. George Anderson asked the bishops to suggest names, including critics of the Concordat that was defeated by the Churchwide Assembly.
