Don't stop the music

Lutheran schools train a new crop of church musicians

Congregations around the country are celebrating the distinguished careers of their organists, some of whom have been at the same bench playing every Sunday for 50 or even 60 years. But as our organists age, and eventually retire, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America finds itself with many openings and not enough qualified people to fill them, let alone lead a music program that could take a congregation into the next century.
