Parents look at family life beyond the tube

TV-PG? TV-M? TV-14? TV-G? The alphabet soup of TV ratings leaves many a parent bewildered. Rolf Goodwin suggests a simpler system. "Put a rating of 'C' on most things--corrosive to your life," he quips.

Like a growing number of Americans wary of television's influence on family life, Rolf and his wife, Nancy, aren't relying on TV executives to evaluate programs for them.
