In September (page 20) we asked readers to share some of their strategies for simplifying their lifestyles. Here's a gleaning from the generous response:
My biggest tip that enables families to realize
the dream of living a more fulfilling life by slowing down and spending
less is: downsize your house so it's affordable on one income. We
bought a "starter" home 12 years ago using only my husband's salary.
Three years later, when our son was born, I didn't have to go back to
work to support a huge house. When our daughter was born almost three
years later, we had saved enough to add a playroom that increased our
living space to an adequate size.
