Debate continues over sexuality issues within the churches that have entered into full communion with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and with the Episcopal Church, with whom the ELCA is exploring full communion. Although the 1997 ELCA Churchwide Assembly did not act on any resolutions that dealt with sexuality as it did in 1995, these issues continue to be just as troubling and controversial as they are within these four denominations.
