If you talk to Lutheran seminarians these days about their education, words like spirituality and spiritual formation tend to crop up. The use of such terms in Lutheran seminaries--almost unknown two decades ago--reflects an awareness of how important a disciplined devotional life is for those engaged in ordained and lay ministry.
