Good for the city! Cheers broke out in the assembly hall after an initiative to revitalize ministry in urban areas was approved by an overwhelming vote of 926 to 22.
Called "In the City for Good," the 10-year, $5
million commitment calls for churchwide units, synods, institutions and
congregations to work to bring about transformation to city life and
ministry. Each year $500,000 will fund new work in urban areas.
