The two related articles on the theology of the cross by Douglas John Hall (March, page 12)
are some of the best stuff you've published. Martin Luther's thinking
regarding the theology of the cross is Christian theology at its most
daunting and profound level ... a level not readily understood or
accepted by many Christians, Lutheran or otherwise. Unfortunately our
culture, religious as well as secular, shapes our thinking in ways that
run counter to it. One would hope these articles are read and discussed
in the adult education programs of our ELCA congregations.
