Members of the ELCA will get their first look at the recommendations of the ELCA Studies on Sexuality task force in January, according to a timeline adopted by the group at its March 19-21 meeting in Chicago.
The 2001 Churchwide Assembly charged the 15-member task force with developing recommendations for church policy on the ordination of gays and lesbians in committed relationships and the blessing of same-sex unions.
At the March meeting, task force members discussed early responses to the study guide Journey Together Faithfully, Part II, as well as options and a process for arriving at final recommendations.
