Bluebonnets spring eternal

Former pastor glorifies God through his paintings

In spring the prairies and pastures of Texas are ablaze with colorful wildflowers. But long after the season's over, the royal fields of bluebonnets still bloom under sunny skies inside the Dallas studio of W.A. Slaughter.

Slaughter, a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church, Dallas, paints bluebonnets lining country roads and covering fields, bluebonnets surrounding churches or oak trees, bluebonnets waving next to creeks and bluebonnets around barns. He puts hundreds of these wildflowers in a single painting, each one carefully rendered.
