Fighting the good fight

Comrades and a 'can-do' spirit buoy hearts amid flood and fatigue

Wading through flooded homes in the Red River Valley, an overwhelming leadenness settles into one's shoulders. Arms sag. A nauseous feeling saps one's strength. The enormity of the destruction and loss is immobilizing. Where do you start to fix this? Will anything ever be the same? A prayer forms at the back of one's mind: "Dear God, don't let anyone face this alone. It' s too much."
