Michael Moller, 40, a professor on sabbatical in Thailand from the Lutheran Seminary at Philadelphia, was killed March 15 in Bangkok when he was hit by a pick-up truck.
Born in East Germany, he received his doctorate at the Theological Seminary in Leipzig. In 1990 Moller accepted an appointment at Philadelphia where he taught systematic theology.
Moller served on the 16-member Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Task Force on Peace that produced the social statement For Peace in God's World, which was adopted by the 1995 Churchwide Assembly.
At the time of his death, he was engaged in a research project on human rights in Asia and in part-time teaching of religion in Mahhidol University in Bangkok.
