It's still news, no matter how many centuries have passed. I recycle yesterday's newspaper. It's old stuff. But Jesus' resurrection is still news because of the kind of event it was--and is. This was no return from the edge of death, no coming back from a near-death experience.
The Resurrection is an "end-time event." It shows us the outcome of history. The New Testament Gospels tell us why it is an end-time event. Jesus not only appeared to his disciples, which might have made him a vindicated martyr, he also disappeared.
