Why do they come back?

Here's the scene: You approach a visitor to your church and say, "Hello, John, I'm glad you visited. We think you'll like our church. We Lutherans ...."

Quickly finish that sentence.

Would you say, "We have a warm church"? Or "We have more social involvement"? How about, "We have strong children's programs"?

That's perhaps the strongest reason young adults wander away from mainline churches, says Hoge, professor of sociology at Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.
