I grew up in a legalistic church that thrived on apocalyptic teachings,
end-times prophecy and debates on the rapture. I'm still recovering. I
like the Lutheran response, that of grace. Instead of worrying about
mysteries that may be real or may be symbolic, we need to focus on the
mission we've been given from God: reveal the kingdom to the world.
