'What heaven must be like'

This year, St. John Lutheran Church celebrates its 50th anniversary. But the small congregation, nestled in a Los Angeles suburb, doesn't look like it used to.

In its early days, St. John's membership was mostly white. Today for every white face there are also brown, yellow and black ones. For member Jim Moore, worship services are "what heaven must be like: people of different ethnicity gathered in a common cause — to praise God."
