Prior to the U.N. agreement with Iraq brokered by U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, ELCA Presiding Bishop H. George Anderson joined other U.S. church leaders in a letter to President Clinton urging him to pursue diplomacy, not military action, in the crisis with Iraq.
