While the official signing of the Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification took place Oct. 31 in Augsburg, Germany, ELCA congregations and synods found creative ways to celebrate the document, which lifts doctrinal condemnations Lutherans and Roman Catholics issued against each other during the Reformation.
