  • 6 million American women are beaten each year by their husbands or partners, higher than the number of women injured by auto accidents, muggings and rapes combined.

  • 2 in 5 female murder victims are killed by their husbands or partners.

  • 95 percent of all spousal assaults are committed by men.

  • Children in homes plagued by domestic violence are physically abused or seriously neglected at a rate 15 times higher than the general population. Many of them grow up to repeat the pattern.
