Living with pigs and prodigals

"If it has the word 'Prodigal' in the title, I have it," Jerry Evenrud says. Walking through his modest home in suburban Minneapolis, one is inclined to believe him.

The house bursts with the mementos of a busy and creative life. The walls are covered--literally, even the tiny bathroom--with biblical art, posters of Gregorian chant, Eastern Orthodox icons and signed photos of well-known scholars and music directors with whom Evenrud has worked. But mostly there's the Prodigal.

Evenrud has 120 original works in his art collection related to Jesus' parable of the Prodigal Son and dozens more reproductions and prints. Since 1986 he has exhibited his collection 28 times nationwide.
