From the bookshelf

Our shelf is filled now with picture books by Sandy Eisenberg Sasso — a new favorite author. Sasso and her husband, David, are rabbis who lead the Beth-El Zedeck congregation in Indianapolis. The award-winning author's books include In God's Name, What Is God's Name?, God in Between, For Heaven's Sake and But God Remembered.

Sasso paints good word pictures. From God's Paintbrush you can read: "I think the sunbeam is God's paintbrush dipped in a watercolor sea, painting clouds and coloring our world."

The author encourages us to use our imaginations with questions such as, "What do you think would make God cry or laugh?" We also like that her books appeal to all youth, no matter what background or faith.
